Kidzu is accepting reservations for Fall 2021 field trips and group visits! If you are not able to come to the museum, let us bring the Kidzu fun to your classroom with an In-School Field Trip.Visit our Field Trip/Group Visit page for more information. 

STEM Boxes for Rent

Our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Boxes provide hands-on activities to engage and excite students in a selection of grade-aligned science topics! These activities can be facilitated by an independent educator, or a Kidzu staff member (at an additional cost). Each STEM Box includes a full introduction to the topic, 3 different stations-based activities, and a take-home activity for learners to enjoy. 

To schedule a STEM Box rental, please complete this interest form and a member of our Programs Team will be in touch.

Pricing:

  • 1-15 children: $8/participant
    16-40 children: $7/participant
    41+ children: $6/participant
  • Optional Delivery Fee (will be calculated at check out based off distance from Kidzu)
  • Optional Kidzu Educator: $30/hour, minimum of 2 hours (delivery is included!)

  • Cost includes:
    • Organizations/groups will be able to have all of the materials for 3 full business days (10% of total invoice will be charged for every additional day

Tech for Tots: Pre-K and Kindergarten
Explore robotics and computer programming with engaging, hands-on activities! Children will investigate what makes computers and robots special, while interacting with real robots and learning how to communicate with these types of technology.

Weather: Kindergarten, 2nd Grade
What causes the weather we observe all around us? Participants will get to explore weather tools and perform experiments to dive deeper into the science behind the weather patterns we see and experience every day.

Forces of Flight: 1st grade, 3rd grade
What are the 4 forces of flight and how do they allow airplanes and helicopters to fly through the air? Participants will get to create airplane launchers, paper helicopters, and use Kidzu’s wind tunnels to put their own “flying machines” to the test.

Life Cycles: 2nd Grade
Learn about the life cycles of flowering plants, insects, and amphibians! Participants will experience the progression of these life cycle stages through a bean plant experiment, frog craft, and creation of a handheld learning tool explaining the ladybug life cycle.

Matter: 2nd Grade-3rd Grade
What is matter and how do we study it like scientists? Participants will investigate chemical change, distinguish between the states of matter, and learn about the properties of various materials.

Algorithms and Problem Solving: 3rd Grade-5th Grade
Learn how computers solve problems through algorithms created by computer programmers! By interacting with one of Kidzu’s favorite robots, Cubetto, and writing algorithms in small groups and for friends, participants will gain insight into how computers process information and reach goals.

Electricity: 3rd grade-4th Grade
Discover how we generate electricity, how it travels to our homes and schools, and how we transform it to be useful in our daily lives. Participants will experiment with static electricity, create live circuits, and investigate conductive and insulating materials.

Forces and Motion: 3rd Grade, 5th Grade
Learn about Newton’s laws of motion and how we experience each in our everyday lives. Participants will investigate Newton’s 3 laws through an inertia experiment, using catapults, and putting on balloon races!

Renewable Energy: 6th Grade-8th Grade
Take a deep dive into energy and renewable energy resources! Participants will build their own electric motors, mini wind turbines, and solar ovens to investigate how energy can be harnessed to power our lives.

Computational Thinking: 6th Grade-8th Grade
How do computer programmers communicate with machinery through code? To answer this question, participants will try out computers’ binary language, solve game theory riddles, experiment with robotics, and use code to direct friends’ actions.

Biomedical Engineering: 7th Grade-8th Grade
Gain hands-on experience with engineering in the medical field. Learn how prosthetic limbs are designed and help their users, experience how engineering plays a part in medicine we use regularly, and consider how biomedical engineering can help us keep our bodies safe.

Outdoor Discovery Boxes for Rent

Each of our 4 In-School Outdoor Discovery Boxes include grade-specific, curricularly aligned STEM activities designed to be done outdoors. Each one includes a facilitator guide with lesson plans and all the materials needed to complete each activity. Each Discovery Box has multiple activities for different grade levels. Our Field Trip Coordinator is always available to help modify the activities to fit the needs of your group.

Virtual Learning Kits

Our virtual learning kits are designed to support educators, students, and families during virtual learning at home. Each kit is designed to provide a week (5 days) of instructional inspiration as well as connections to downloadable content that can be used beyond the first week.
